This book has been written especially for students of English who wish to improve their understanding and active use of phrasal verbs. It is suitable for all learners from an intermediate level upwards, either as a first book on phrasal verbs or as a revision and practice book.
Exercises on Phrasal Verbs can be used in the classroom or for self-study. The contents are based on English Idioms (fifth edition, Oxford University Press 1988, by Seidl and McMordie) but the book is complete in itself and can be used independently.
The book describes, explains and exercises all types of phrasal verb in a lively, innovative way. The book has two parts.
Part 1 is essentially a reference and demonstration section. It explains systematically six structural types of phrasal verb plus nominalized forms and demonstrates clearly how they work. Part I also includes exercises which concentrate on familiarizing the student with the form and meaning of common phrasal verbs.
Part II is a varied section of exercises introducing a larger number of phrasal verbs.
An answer key is included.
