For this book I’ve selected tunes that illustrate different aspects of the Clarke tin whistle’s musical personality. The pieces can also be played effectively on other whistles. Much of the advanced music in the book is from Ireland, reflecting the fact that tin whistle playing has flourished in that country and developed into an art form. There are also selections from England, Scotland, and the U.S. The format of the book has been designed with the hope that anyone who picks it up will find something geared to his or her level of musical ability and interest. Of necessity this entailed compromises. It is not possible to say everything, but this should at least get you pointed in the right direction. Happy whistling!
