Don Schultz has been a chess volunteer organizer and promoter for the past forty years. As a player he reached the level of Expert. He is a past president of four State Chess Associations — New York, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. He represented the US Chess Federation (USCF) to the international chess community from 1978 to 1994. From 1994 to 1996 he was editor of FloridaCHESS and won numerous awards for excellence in journalism. Schultz served as President of the USCF from 1996 to 1999.
In 1957 he graduated from Manhattan College's School of Electrical Engineering, began employment with IBM and married his wife Teresa. After spending ten years in Europe on overseas assignments, the Schultzes moved to Florida in 1984.
Against this background and a seemingly never ending tream of anecdotal encounters with
players and officials, CHESSDON gives the reader an insight into the world of chess-the good, the
bad and the ugly.
Throughout CHESSDON are sprinkled twenty-eight carefully selected games with commentary
by GM Gabriel Schwartzman.
