Descriptive notation.
This book is mainly concerned with the transition from opening to middle game and the middle game itself, so that few endgame positions will be considered.
Most chess players of club standard will benefit from this book. The authors set out clearly the main features of a position which lead to the making of a middlegame plan and they illustrate these main types with plenty of examples.
At the end of the book the reader is asked to test his new knowledge by examining a series of diagrams with a view to forming a good plan to cover the following few moves. It is the ability to form a worthwhile plan that suits the elements of the position that separates the master from the amateur.
