André Chéron was born in Colombes, France. He was French champion in 1926, 1927 and 1929 and played on the French Olympiad team of 1927. He was also a problem composer and author of note, his major work being Lehr und Handbuch der Endspiele (1952-58) with the 2nd edition (1969-71). This became a major reference work on the endgame.
