Ariga K. (Ed.) Manipulation of Nanoscale Materials: An Introduction to Nanoarchitectonics
The Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, 2012. — 489 p. — (RSC Nanoscience & Nanotechnology No. 24) — ISBN: 9781849734158
Most of us as scientists and non-scientists know a term nanotechnology that seems to create many goods in our convenient life. This fact may not be true. Most useful materials, apparatuses, and machines can be fabricated by well-sophisticated micro-technology. Although nanotechnology has revealed various interesting phenomena, most of them still remain just as scientific topics. We have not yet utilised our knowledge of nanotechnology for materials science. What is necessary for the next steps? What comes after nanotechnology? Nanotechnology drastically develops ways to observe and analyze nanoscale worlds. We need to re-construct novel materials from the most basic material (atoms, molecules, and nano-units) based on knowledge from nanotechnology. A new paradigm for constructing materials from nanoworlds is nanoarchitectonics. Nanoarchtectonics must come after nanotechnology.
