It has been the fourth national language of Switzerland since 1938. Speakers aged 15 and above were 36.622 in 2012, i.e. 0.9% of Switzerland’s 7,7 million inhabitants. Romansh is divided in five main dialects. This book, written in French, describes two of them, namely Surselvan (spoken in Surselva) and Vallader (spoken in the Lower Engadine valley i.e. Engiadina Bassa). Its scannerizing is poor but acceptable.
