Sokolov N.N., Andrianov K.A. Synthesis of alkylchlorosiloxanes by heterofunctional condensation

Published in Organic and Biological Chemistry. — 1956. — P. 827-832In previous papers we have described new reactions for the formation of polyorganosiloxanes based on interaction between the functional groups of organo~llieon monomers fl, 2]. It was found that, in presence of catalysts, acetoxy-, chloro-, and alkoxy-alkyl (or aryl) silanes react with one another with formation of polyorganosiloxanes. It is of interest to make use of these reactions for the synthesis of organosilicon compounds of low molecular weight, particularly those which are difficult to prepare by other methods. In this investigation we have studied the condensations of dichlorodimethylsilane, dichioromethylsilane, dichlorodiethylsiiane, and dichloroethylsilane with chloroethoxydimethylsilane. Anhydrous ferric chloride (0.5~/o on the reaction mixture) was used as catalyst.
