Transient complex phenomena take place in a gun during interior ballistic cycle. Understanding these phenomena clearly and describing the mathematical models accurately are crucial to predict the behavior of gun system considering firing safety and performance. A mathematical model based on Eulerian-Eulerian approach for reactive gas-solid flow arising during interior ballistic cycle inside large caliber naval gun guided projectile system was developed. The model included the governing equations of mass, momentum, and energy for both phases as well as the constitutive laws. The system of equations was solved using second-order accurate MacCormack technique. One-dimensional shock tube model was utilized to test the ability of the numerical algorithm in solving the initial boundary value problem for the system of equations with shock wave behavior. The numerical method was verified using exact solution of a test problem. The moving control volume conservation method was used to handle the moving boundary and a self-adapting method was used to expand the computational domain in order to follow the projectile motion. Numerical results were validated with experimental data. The interior ballistics performance of a 130mm naval gun was closely predicted using the presented model and the numerical code.
